Apple II

Maybe it’s a clone?

I was on the hunt for old keyboards and a guy in my area was selling off all the parts from his former computer repair business. One picture showed a bit of what appeared to be 70's vintage in a very large case. They were Honeywell Hall effect switches (cool!) but I opened up the case and there was some kind of motherboard in there. He asked for $10 and I walked away happy.

Apple III without any text

Hi Applefritter, this is my first thread in this fine forum.

I have an Apple III bought on ebay. It was sold as defect, it was dead on arrival. Model  A3S1 no 57901  motherboard  820-0043-00E  5V memory board, american keyboard. The power supply was dead. Defect KB lamp. A defect trace on the MB so no voltage to the KB. After replacing with a new PSU, new KB lamp and repair of the Mb the Apple III is partially working.

Apple II plus diagnostics card / ROMs

Hi again,

So I'm still trying to get my EuroPlus working reliably. It's getting there, but I'm having a hard time tracking down some faults.

(I've bypassed the PAL card for now, and I have a spare coming in a few weeks that'll help me isolate that part donw)

For most other systems I've worked with, there's usually a diagnostics card / cart / ROMset available. I know the later models had diagnostics built in, but this is only a Plus.

Need Help With Apple IIGS Memory Error

I have a rom 1 IIGS with a 4mb expansion card and I'm trying to get a music program called Sonix to work with it. I'm using Floppy Emu rev B to load the image. I get past the initial ProDos 8 title screen then it shows this memory error:

"Allocate 0101
***MEMORY ERROR***
Must be user #1
De-allocate all managed memory "

Then it gives me a command prompt and I don't know how to proceed. Any help would be appreciated.

Getting a DuoDisk unit working again...

I came into posession of an Apple IIe with a DuoDisk unit.  It sat for years in a barn and is caked with mud dauber nests on the inside.  As I'm cleaning it out, I've torn down one of the two DuoDisk drives and I want to establsih two things:

1.  Whether or not I need to do the DuoDisk mod to the analog board

2.  How to test the stepper motor before putting everything back together.

Apple II Plus Power Supply Failure

I powered up my Apple II Plus for the first time in probably over a decade last night (which I bought new in 1980). After running for a while a burning odor was detected; I shut off and uplugged the unit, removed the cover, and detected a thin stream of smoke coming out of the power supply. Is there a list of compatible and available new supplies to be used as a replacement? I was going to survey the damage but could not easily/quickly remove the p/s cover, it seemed like it was welded shut.

I appreciate any advice!

Thanks.

Apple ][ europlus PAL card issue.

Hi All from this Oz Apple II owner.

I've just got my first Apple II. It's a Europlus, with the Language card in slot 0, an I/O disk card in slot 6 and a PAL card in slot 7.

I've got the disk drives working (Had to make a 19 to 25 pin adapter as that had gone missing) and I've fixed the bootup garbage issues it had (It was the 6502 of all things! I popped it out of the socket while looking around for faults and the pins were black. Some Deoxit and a hard eraser fixed it up a treat) but my Google-Fu is failing me with the final issue.

PC Transporter - IIe Keyboard Adapter

Hi Folks! I've recently aqquired an AE PC Transporter. I've managed to get it running just fine in my IIe but I have to use an external PC keyboard. There is an adapter that allows the use of the internal IIe keyboard but I am missing this part. Does anybody have one or even a schematic for the board (Looks to be pretty simple) Here is a photo of a Transporter. The board in question is the one in the top left.
