Apple II

Any idea the value for Apple II Hardcore Computist Magazines?

Sorry to ask this question here. I read a message from a guy that is digitizing this magazine. I happen to have all of the issues, I can't find #7 right now. I wouldn't sell them, but I like the work that he is doing. I want to make sure I'm giving him a fair deal. Any ideas regarding the value of all of the volumes?

System Reset Apple II+

Can you reset an Apple II+ to boot from a floppy via the keyboard?

Or do you always have to power cycle the machine?

The keyboard switch (underneath) seems to toggle RESET vs. CTRL-RESET, but both do the same thing and just bring you back to a DOS prompt and no machine restart.

With a nearly 40 year old power supply, I have to imagine this won't last long with me flipping the switch like that.

Is there a better approach - maybe hard wiring a separate switch to cycle the machine?

What do others do?

I want to dial a BBS with my Apple //e.

Hello,

I'd like to figure out what the best way to dial a BBS from my Enhanced Apple //e would be.

This is what I currently have:

* A Lantronix UDS-10
* An Uthernet II card
* A DB-25M to DB-25M
* A DB-25 to RS-232
* (Obviously) A few working Ethernet cords
* A Super Serial Card in my Apple //e
* A Raspberry Pi 2 and Raspberry Pi 3

Thanks!

Contiki telnet client

I can't seem to get the Contiki telnet client to work on my Enhanced Apple //e. I have the //e's Uthernet II hooked up to my Raspberry Pi to give it Internet access. I can browse the Internet no problem.

But every time I enter the telnet client, it says "Contiki up and running ..." followed shortly after by multiple Lines saying "ip: invalid version or header length."

Apple IIe issue... Any ideas?

I have an non enhanced apple IIe that was working great just a few hours ago. I was making copies of disks and had no issues what so ever. I turned it off for a few hours... and just a few minutes ago turned it on to find a garbled screen:

RAMWorks III problems

I have a RAMWorks III card I am trying to get running in a Platinum IIe, and am running into stability problems. The board is a REV E.

When this card is inserted, there is a faint but noticeable high-pitched sqeal from the power supply. Despite the noise, the card itself works --all memory passes diags (using AE's RAMWorks tester) and is recognized in Appleworks, etc. The IIe itself will pass diags as well using Apple's IIe diagnotics, and the system will in fact run normally for about 15 minutes or so.

Apple II+ Keyboard Problems

Hi guys,

Been recently trying to also resurrect an Apple II+ from years gone by, and am stuck on the Keyboard.

Anyone have suggestions?

When I type various random keys like 12345 or QWERTY or 67890, I sometimes get the letter M in the mix. Happens randomly (once in a while) and doesn't matter the keys I hit. In addition, I do get a few "double" key hits on the letter T. Not sure if this is related or not.

Originally I had 14+ keys which didn't work at all, so I took the whole thing apart (see pictures) and did a solid cleaning. Now just the M key remains with problems (and the T) so I am close.

How do you troubleshoot? This model keyboard is not the older style switch type, is it even possible to use a multi-meter to test leads coming off the keyboard PCB? or should I test it at the encoder?

Most people have good examples of how to deal with older style keyboards, just not this type.

Any suggestions would be great.

Is this a keyboard problem or encoder?

I am excited to get this Apple II working, but the keyboard has frustrated me.
