Yellowstone FDC Beta Testers

Reposting this here for anyone who might be interested in beta testing the Yellowstone FDC and meets the requirements, but doesn't follow BMOW that closely.

Franklin Computer Disk Interface Card

I got this disk interface card together with an apple IIe some years ago.

There was no documentation with it, although I don't think I need one.

The card was not working, but I found that the 74LS373 was faulty, and after replacing it, the card works.

Notice the jumper pins just to the left of the blue connector?

I am guessing this means that the card can handle 13 sector disks and 16 sector disks.

Without a jumper the card displays the screen below when booting (or when using PR#6). See photo 3.

How awesome is that?

Problem Apple //e board displays horizontal bars and graphical glitches

So I've had this Apple //e problem board for some years now.  The board itself has some really bad sodering on all the RAM sockets, as well as the sockets for the EF-ROM and the S02.  The fist RAM chip has a lot of bodge work (one of the pins seems to be free floating even) but as far as I can tell, everything is connected to what their supposed to be.  The 'new' sockets appear to be double swipe, so decent quality.  However, it still won't boot.

Apple //c Diagnostic V2.0 Found/Preserved

Someone over on Reddit seems to have located a "new" version of the Apple //c diagnostics compared to the only version on Asimov.  This supports the newer ROM 3/4 versions, as it has an extended memory card test.  The existing version on Asimov seems to only like ROM 255 machines and forces you to have a serial loop back cable.  This one lets you skip the serial test if you don't have the cable.

Newbie looking for a IIe joystick

Hello,

I'm really happy I have found this Apple II online community.

I've recently acquired an Apple IIe (non-enhanced) which I'm restoring.

Many of your posts are really helpful !

Would anyone know where I could find an Apple IIe compatible joystick?

Universal Serial Interface Card Model J13-A for Apple IIe

Some years ago I bought an Apple IIe which I'm now beginning to restore.

Along with it came some cards, but without any documentation.

One of these cards is this serial interface card.

Does anyone have any manual or documentation or information about it?

Googling it I only found one place where another guy also asks about it, but no answer except about the Super Serial Card which this is not.

Apple IIc keyboard problem

Recently I bought an Apple IIc with german keyboard and after some days of use the RETURN, ENTER and ARROW UP keys stopped working. I opened the Apple IIc case, unconnected the keyboard flat cable and visually checked for some damage, but all seemed to be correct. I applied Contact Cleaner  (zero residue) to all the switches and after re-installing the keyboard again all the keys started to work.

Today, after a couple of weeks using the Apple IIc, the problem  has come back.  What can be cause? Flat cable or keyboard controller chip maybe (which one in this case)?

IIc Plus RAM upgrades

I understand the Apple RAM upgrade for the IIc won't work in the IIc Plus unless I replace the PAL chip because of a timing problem. Where do I get the replacement PAL chip?

There seems to be a rumor that later IIc Plusses were sold with a 256k RAM expansion installed. Where did this go? Where can I get one?

wDrive features

I have my wDrive connected to the Apple IIc throught the BMOW disk switcher that enables to boot from it. After somes days testing and loading disk images succesfully, I have two questions:

1) How can I set the time that the display background light is turned on? Now is turned on all the time, but when used with my Apple IIe I think to remember that it turns off after a few seconds since the last disk access. No mention about this in the manual then, I'm not sure if is possible or not, or maybe if it's a firmware issue.
