Modern day methods to upgrade a Rom 00 IIgs to 01 or 03?

Questions on Rom revisions:

1. Is Rom 3 the best and fully compatible with all software or have it's quirks? Is there some reason people would want to stick with Rom 01?
2. What are my options to upgrade a Rom 00?

Apple IIe Diagnostics Card 2018 version!!!

Well,

I soldered the prototype of the Apple IIe diagnostics together today with the parts I sourced and it works!!!!

I included a picture of the screen and the card.

I soldered Machined sockets on the card so I can use it as a test Jig. Also, I didn't solder the black ROM socket either.

I am going to put a few more of these together this weekend, but you will see them soon on Henry's RM page to buy.

WooHoo!!!

Thanks,
Jay

I added another board I made from another fabricator and it worked too!!!

USB serial to Apple II ASCII keyboard connector

tl;dr: Skip to the bottom for link to the video.

Hello! I'm new here because my dad found an Apple II Europlus that he has no recollection of ever owning in his attic, and I promptly pinched it saying that I would get it up and running for him.

Replacing RTC battery in Woz Edition GS

Perhaps your Apple expertise would know more about this Apple IIGS product:
https://www.reactivemicro.com/product/battery-iigs-rom0-1-caddy

My Rom1 Woz Edition GS: Online guides and videos say to ONLY use original PART NO: TADIRAN BATTERIES TL-5902/P 1.2 Ah, 3.6 V, 1/2AA. Prior to that tidbit, I ordered someone's suggested Tadiran TL-5101/P at 3.6V 0.95Ah 2-Pin. I'm concerned about the 0.95Ah if the original is 1.2 Ah. Other guides say NOT to use alternative brands like SAFT and GMPower, etc. I know the battery is just for RTC but:

Apple IIgs 3.5 Floppy problem

Hi! Recently got a IIGS Woz Edition and cleaning it nicely. My 3.5 drive from the IIGS wasn't working so I watched some tutorials and opened it up: not too dirty but I cleaned it anyway. I discovered I had a broken cog wheel and have a replacement on the way - I re-did the moving parts lubrication with new silicone grease and cleaned the read/write head with alcohol on a cotton swab. Still won't read disks. So far my 5.25 drive works but I can't load GS stuff until I sort the 3.5 drive.

Floppy EMU and Sierra Save Game disks with volume numbers

Recently purchased a floppy Emu. Awesome device! A bunch of games require a volume number in order to function. For instance almost all Sierra games (Kings Quest 1,2,3,4 man hunter, gold rush etc). No problem I just use NIB files that have the volume number set. Unfortunately the save game disk for Sierra games must be made IN the games using command: init disk which formats a save game disk and also assigns it a volume number that MUST be set. For KQ2 I think its 050 but I could check them all to be sure. Anyways...

Apple II expansion cards

I recently acquired a lot of Apple II expansion cards (along with a II+, IIe, and Mac Portable). I've attempted to identify what each of these card are, but I appreciate any community help with the orange (unknown) items. The previous/original owner was a tinkerer, so some of the cards are modified or homebrew clones.

Thanks,
Matt

ProTERM 3.1 - Null Modem

Hi,

My ultimate goal is a bit different, but the issues I am having persist all the way down to the most basic level. ProTERM 3.1 is not properly receiving data from the serial port. I have it configured for SSC in Slot 2. Baud rate is 9600, 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit. Using the Null modem driver, with a null modem cable.

I have it connected to the terminal program on my Tandy Model 102 configured the same way. The Tandy is receiving clearly all the characters sent from the Apple II, but the Apple II receives nothing from the 102.

How to use MicroDrive Turbo With More Than One CF Card?

I have a ReActiveMicro MicroDrive Turbo with slots for two CF cards. The hardware is great but the docs aren't. ProDOS can only create volumes up to 32MB although the MicroDrive comes with one 512MB CF card. Is all that extra space wasted or can I use multiple volumes on one card? If I can, HOW? Also, how do I access the second card on the board? I'd like to install Pascal 1.3 on one card and keep the other for ProDOS. Thanks for any pointers you may be able to give me!
