RAMKEEPER

Hi all,

I recently acquired a RAMKEEPER for an Apple IIgs. It came without the external power supply (wall wart) or the gel-cell battery. I'm wondering if I can use a generic wall wart to power the board when the IIgs is powered down. Would anyone have the specs for it? There's a photo of one in the online documentation but the specs are unreadable. Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Andy

Apple II and IIe what do these screen mean??

Hi again,
I still a newbe for Apple II's. leaning as I go.
I got an Apple II (not plus or e) that shows ? and @ full screen and a blinking cursor at the bottom. There is no applesoft card. Is this 'normal' boot behavior? I get the same with and without the extra cards installed. One card looks like an extra 16K card. It plugs into one of the ram sockets. The other is a Mountain RomPlus card with only one ROM installed. Not shown

Apple III Troubleshooting and Repair

I acquired a non-working Apple III over the weekend from VCF SE. It is surprisingly clean (I think the just-previous owner really cleaned it up) but as advertised, it does not work.

Power is good- I get 5v, 12v, everything there tests fine. It has a 12v 128k RAM board in it. I have removed all the chips and reinstalled them, checking for proper positioning and bent legs. I didn't find any problems, and none of this affected the screen output. I've even moved around the RAM (within the same bank only, it has a mix of 8k and 4k chips).

Apple ][ out of memory

Apple II Plus system board without 16K Language card boots correctly.
Ctrl-Reset give the flashing prompt.
Even typing HOME returns an out of memory error.
Installing known good 16K Language card computer boot normally
but when typing HOME the screen goes to gibberish.

I know memory issues with these old critters can drive you into the nut house.
Any idea on where to start?

Apple IIc questions...

I just picked up an Apple IIc and I have a couple of questions. It came with an external 5.25" drive, a couple of joysticks and a mono monitor. I have no disks to test. Without a physical floppy disk or the ability to make one, is there anything that I can do to test this computer? It powers on just fine and I get the Apple IIc line at the top of the screen and Check Disk Drive at the bottom... I plugged in the external drive and it doesn't do much of anything (I see the red power light flash briefly when I turn on the computer).

Thank you,
Roger

Apple II Cards: Most Useful / Least Useful?

Hi, all.

Just for fun, as it relates to current times use, what is your opinion of the most useful and least useful Apple II card (II / II+ / IIe / IIGS - your choice)

For most useful, I say Apple Disk II Controller Card

For least useful, I would say a 300 baud modem.
