Rana EliteOne Drive repair

Hello!  I was wondering if anyone was familiar with any sources of information on repairing Rana drives?  I have a Rana Systems EliteOne on me IIe that just powers up and spins continuously.  I'd like to get it going but was surprised to see some manuals out there, but not a lot of people digging into this model, unless I'm just poking around the wrong places..

Thanks!

Pete

Smartport disk emulators and daisy-chaining

Hi,

In the last weeks I wanted to add a smartport "hard disk" to my Apple IIc setup, and chose a SPIISD for that. First I had a problem with it: it is not seen when booting from the internal floppy drive. Basically it's because it boots too slow and missed the smartport RESET/ENABLE sequence that is used for device ID assignment.

I fixed that in software.

Apple //e: DuoDisk Format Track $00 Errror (both drives)

I have an Apple //e with a DuoDisk Card and Drive Unit. I haven't used it in many years, preferring modern solid state; however, I wanted to get the drive going again. I tested it as-is and found speed issues. I performed maintenace to clean the heads, correct the speed, clean up, etc. Drives are operating as they should (speed check, etc.).

Bit of a disaster

Had a bit of a disaster.

I picked up this ide Superdisk and tried it out first with a Mac Digital  Audio running OSX where it worked perfectly.

Then I tried it with a MDT. No luck. Next I connected it to an Acard SCSI IDE bridge and my Ramfast seemed to know it’s there but wouldn’t mount the disk. Also tried an Apple Hi-Speed SCSI card. I’d  tried this before with the mechanism from a USB Superdisk where it worked fine but not this time. I was a bit stumped so I put the Superdisk aside while I thought about it.
