Make or buy? Old or new? Advice needed!

I'm looking for advice from other "enthusiasts" here. I'm in the midst of an RFI era II plus restoration that I've been slowly acquiring parts for for some time. I have a case with speaker and all hardware, a matching motherboard that I acquired separately, and a Unified Retro Keyboard that I ordered directly from Dave from osiweb.org a few years ago and built myself.

The advice I'm looking for has two parts.

AppleWin: mouse emulation?

Hi!  I have the AppleWin emulator and want it to emulate a mouse as a mouse rather than a joystick.  How do I do that?

Extracted Apple II wav sounds

Hey all!

 

I'm trying to obtain authentic Apple II sounds (simple clicks, beeps, etc) in wav file format to use for a film project.  I have done some searching already but have really only found the apple ii startup chime.  Main goal would be to obtain 5 (or 10 if there were 10) of the top common sounds (in wav) from an Apple II.  If anyone knows where I could find these, or if it is easy to extract and send to me, I would greatly appreciate the help!

Is there a way to test the IWM on the Apple IIc+ Motherboard?

I've posted this question in the Apple II Enthusiat's group on Facebook, but I haven't had a ton of luck with the reponses - even from the experts.  I'm hoping to get some solid answers before anyone pulls out the soldering iron.

SmartDiskII Interface (by BTB) Troubles with my DIY built card

Hello All,

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but I am very new to burning (?) EPROMS so I think this is where my issues are coming from .

Background

I have seen a few topics on here regarding this excellent project and the fact that I could get the parts here in the UK and have the PCBs made (PCBway) I thought I would have a go.

I am fairly good with a soldering iron (or at least I should be having done it for many years) but its the P6 EPROM that I think I have messed up as in, not sure what I am meant to do.

Apple II Plus with video issue

 Need help with restoring Apple II Plus.

Apple II Plus,board p/n 820-0001-04, Non-RFI, Rev. 1 board.

 

What I have  done,Replaced the Power Supply.Removed all cards.Removed 32K of RAM, left 16K installed.

 

What happens when power is applied,

Keyboard power button light is on, and a single beep from the speaker.There is a brief flicker of video showing characters, waving sync, then the screen goes black.

Pressing reset , gives a beep and a repeat of the video flicker.

Adjusted video level on board, same problem.

Next ?

I am looking for Crosstalk for Apple CP/M. Does anyone know where I can find the dsk image? The usual suspects (asimov, archive.org) returned nothing.

Could you make a new Apple IIe compatible from modern components?

This has probably been discussed ad-nauseum, but would it be possible to create a new Apple IIe using truly modern and currently available components?  Rather than a true replica, something that is compatible.

By this, I mean:

WDC 65C02

FPGA or CPLD for IOU and MMU

SRAM rather than DRAM

Flash NOR rather than EPROM / ROM

VGA output using a system similar to the Apple-II-VGA card

Compact flash or SD Card for storage

Potential to overclock to 8, 12 or 16MHz

If such a system was built, would it be compatible with existing software?

giberish desplaying

powering up for the first time. had the psu rebuilt.

 

its displaying bunch of gable

it beeps once when i turn on

 

id post a picture but cant for the love of god figure out how to get a photo to display........ try uploading doesnt give options to insert check my files not there
