Apple II

new acquisition - #00991

ok so I probably should have said a2s2 00991 in the title...lol

Odd machine. This is the lowest a2s2 (plus) I have come across. Has a raised power key kb. The serial number would seem to indicate approx. 2nd or 3d week of production of the Apple II plus.

Unusual. Didn't have a power supply, so I can't play...yet.

Interesting...

A little help needed with repairing a ComputerEyes digitizer.

I've got one of the original ComputerEyes digitizers. The black box model with a 16pin ribbon cable, 2 knobs, and a composite input. This one here:
http://digital-vision-inc.com/productCEAppleII.htm

It has a blown chip that I'm not able to identify positively. I believe it to be a 556 but want positive ID before I go playing around. Other parts might be bad too. But, one step at a time.

Are there any photos of the board or a schematic/manual available for this?

ProTerm support via GBBS

Hi guys,

in the wikipedia article about GBBS is written that there had been a GBBS System that supported ProTerm - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GBBS .

I would like to set up a dial-up BBS with GBBS which is able to connect to a Raspberry PI.

F.e.:

GBBS connection with a modem in slot 4 (just dial-up)

GBBS connects to the raspberry pi in slot 2

and sends this via the modem to the Apple II which dialed-up the GBBS System. So this Apple II can use the internet connection from the raspberry pi(running Raspple).

Any hints?

Apple II - Characters not being displayed

I finished setting up my Apple II following a move and everything was initially functioning normally.

While keying in commands, some keys started repeating on occasion. Then some keys would repeat several times, followed by one repeating without stopping.

Rebooted to normal prompt. However no matter which key was pressed, no characters were displayed on screen. Reset appears to work normally.

I did find a report of a similar problem in the forums but it did not appear to have been resolved.

This is an earlier Apple II (serial 734) with original keyboard.
Note, my hardware background is limited to pulling/inserting ICs and expansion boards. I no longer own any meters, so very basic instructions (including what meter/settings to use) would be appreciated.

Thanks
Gord C.
