Apple II

Got a problem with a key

P key on my IIe now randomly spits out 3 at a time, and if I hold it there's no longer the repeat delay. What to do?

Terrible Vintage packing

Thought you guys might get a kick out of this. I went home today and what did I see sitting on my doorstep? Something packaged in an original, almost pristine Apple IIe box... with duct tape and stickers on it! I immediately made a sour face like I had just sucked on a lemon thinking of how I was going to get that tape off.

Apple iie component C12

Hello again people. Trying to get my 4th and last IIe back to life. It is a 1982 PAL board - 820-0073-B

Can someone kindly tell me what the component C12 (just above the power connector) is.

its markings are 10 uM, 20 volt, +tar

I think it is a tantulum capacitor but the uM has me confused.

It has a positive side

Is this a capacitor ?

This IIe has a 5volt to ground short, C12 and C15 are direct shorts

If they are caps what do I replace them with. I only know uF,pF,nF..

uM is a new one to me!!

What are your methods of cleaning your Apple II (Inside + Outside)

Hey everyone,

Firstly, thanks so much for being so kind to me on this forum, I have posted some pretty beginner questions and you guys haven't made me feel stupid or flamed me at all, so I am really grateful!

So to my question... I'm unsure as to what the plastic compound is for the Apple II machine shell so do not know what would be safe to use to clean it! What cleaning solution (if any) do you use and what's your method of cleaning (i.e. what kind of cloth/sponge do you use and how do you apply it?)

Inside, what do you use for circuit board cleaning - I've heard Isopropyl is good for cleaning circuit boards generally, but is it too harsh for vintage boards such as the Apple II - Also, what method do you use to clean (i.e. What types of cleaning instruments do you use in addition to the chemicals, if any)

Thanks again!

Focus Hard Card Questions - ROM 00/01/03 and issues with ProDOS 8

I recently found an old Focus Hard card for the IIgs (and IIe according to the manual).
The hard drive was bad on it, easily replaced and repartitioned using their software. NOTE: It takes many many hours to format a 30G drive.

The card works with GS/OS on my ROM03 machine just fine.
I reformatted it as regular ProDOS 8 so I could use it in a IIe or my ROM00 IIgs.

There are two problems with this:

Anyone have PDF of Sanyo VM4209 service manual or schematics

I have a monitor that is acting up with a wavy picture. I can't seem to find a trustable website. They all seem to be scams and Sam's doesn't seem to have a copy for sale.

Thanks,

Cross Platform Coding for the Apple ][

Anyone have some success with getting the right tools to setup a workflow for building a cross platform coding on the Apple ][ ?

I'm not sure if this topic has been covered here already. If so, I haven't had luck in finding this info, just some basic material so far.

I found some tools already which I hope someone can give us some advice to build a practical workflow. While helping Evan from the VCFed museum on his Lego robot project, the traditional method of coding directly on the vintage platform becomes a burden when trying to collaborate over the phone, email or online. Because you can't see what's on their screen and you can't share the screen online as with today's desktops. No amount of chit-chatting to summarize the code without looking at it directly is going to help. For the moment, he wants to work with Applesoft Basic, and perhaps later once the bugs are worked out and the project is running, then dive into some 6502 assembly.
