DuoDrive problem

Hey there,

I'm looking for some kind of a repair guide for a DuoDisk.  At this point it may be the controller or the drive itself.  Symptom at present is that Drive 1 is always selected regardless of what's chosen in dos, or copy proggy...

Thanks for your time

Best diagnostic software Apple IIe

Hi all.

I've had one of my Apple IIe motheboards burn out for some reason. I've moved all Enchanced chips, floppy controller, floppy drives and memory card to another Apple II, which is now enhanced. Its doing some weird shit. Whats a good Diagnotics disk image I can use to test all the hardware to see whats failing?

Thanks,

Rob

Formatting Disks

New to classic computer collecting. I recently got ahold of an Apple 2e and got a huge lot of 5.25 inch floppies off of ebay. Some of them are HD, which I know won't work, but quite a few of them are double density disks. I would like to use these for the computer, but I cannot seem to figure out how to format them. I put them in the drive and do the control+reset command, and nothing happens. They were previously used on a pc clone, so I know they are not already apple formatted. Any help would be appreciated.

Running ProDOS from DOS

Does anyone know if there is an executable that exists you can run from a DOS formatted disk that will load ProDOS?

There is a method to my madness ... I'm trying to run executables that assume a ProDOS operating system from (initially) within a DOS environment.

I already know that ProDOS clobbers DOS once loaded and that's OK.  I can give more detail to my project in time but if anyone knows

of an executable that exists that can do this, (load ProDOS over DOS)  I would surely appreciate it.  Thanks in advance.

is it clone? a serial interface card

The attached picture is a serial interface card sold in Japan about 30 years ago.

I guess it is probably a clone. I would like to know the details if the original is known. Please let me know if anyone knows.

Building an Apple II Rev. 0

I've been picking at this for a few weeks, thought I would share the progress.

I was able to find an early Apple II Rev. 0 board a few months back, (replica I assume) and thought I would build up the board.  I used vintage gold pin Augat sockets instead of the Robinson-Nugent sockets Apple used back in the day.  I'm partial to Augats, as I've been using them for decades and they've proven to be quite reliable over time.

I've posted a link to the front & back of the finished board Here: (files are a bit too big to U/L here...)

My AppleSauce arrived last Friday

Well, I put my name on the waiting list for this current run of AppleSauce units at KFEST and then when I got home I was toying with the idea of taking my name off the list. Boy, I am I glad I didn't!!!

Mine came on Friday and I installed the Sync Sensor (which is a piece of cake by the way) and cleaned up and lubed a newer looking Disk ][ I had, tested it, and it is working flawlessly.

Apple II Europlus - Help getting it back to life!

Hi, new to this forum and hope some of you guys could help me. I assume ill need to try and supply more information so please let me know any other details.

Basically I managed to dig my old Apple ii Euro out of the loft and before powering on had the power supply recapped. Output has been tested since and are near correct voltages.

I have today put the PSU back into the unit and powered on. The card in slot 7 is a PAL Modulator and when powered on the led on the slot 7 digitek card powers on.

Is there an Apple II,+,e, flowchart/walkthough to determin problems??

Is there a site or file or some such that someone can use to diagnose problems in a apple II or Plus, E, etc?

Some sort of thing that you check this thing first  them goto here if  this or there if that? Something kind of modern. not someting from Apple that might say 'replace main booard' if this fault occurs.

Apple Color 100 - faulty brightness pot

My Apple Color 100 works well, but the brightness pot seems to be faulty. The image is stable, but only at max brightness. Once I adjust the brightness down a bit it flickers and wavers a bit, then fades totally to black. If I fiddle with the knob I can get it back again, but it often is very finicky.

I welcome any thoughts on this. I haven't cracked it open yet -- it looks tricky to open, what with tabs and catches as well as the usual assortment of screws. I wonder, would that pot be a standard item?
