Videx 80col auto switcher / softswitch

Does anyone make an aftermarket softswitch for the Videx 80 col cards (or clones as they are identical)? Does anyone have gerbers to make your own? Having to switch from the 40 col display to 80 col is a pain. They cant be that complicated, just wondering if someone has already make the plans.

VidHD and Modem Mgr

I can't get Modem Mgr to work in 80 columns mode with the VidHD card. I've tried all the video drivers and the only one that works is the "Apple II 80 columns" driver, but the text gets garbled.

Has anyone else got it work with the VidHD? In 40 columns mode Modem Mgr works fine.

Or can anyone suggest any other terminal emulator software that works in 80 columns with the Apple II+? ProTerm isn't compatible with the II+ and I'm struggeling to understand how ASCII Express works...

Sider burning odor

Hello, I see there have been a few posts over the years about the Sider hard drive.  My Sider still works (10 MB), but today it started emitting an odor like burning, reminiscent of the smell when the Apple ][ power supply blew up.  I already recovered all the data to the Floppy Emu a couple months back, so that is not an issue.  What the Sider was doing before the odor came was partitioning and reformatting which takes a bit of time and I suppose stresses it a bit more than usual.  It was still working fine, but I quickly shut it down since I guess it is about to blow.  So I wondered if an

IIGS ADB port isn't working?

Hi all! I posted about this a while ago, but never ended up recieving any help.Basically, my apple desktop bus port has stopped working out of nowhere and I'm not remotely sure what could be causing it.I'm almost certain that isn't my keyboard, mouse, or cable that's causing the issue, as the keyboard's internals are in near perfect conditon, no corrosion, as well as the mouse, which I have tried plugging directly into the ADB port, rather than passing it through the keyboard. I've tested the continuity of the cable, it passes through just fine.

New Connectors for Floppy Emu Dual 5.25 Mode

I just saw that the Floppy Emu creator just released a new version of the //c drive switcher and a new adapter for the standard disk II card to work with the model C FE dual 5.25" mode.

The new version of the //c switcher is functionally the same on the inside, so if you have an old one you don't need to swap it out. You can use the new external piece with the old internal tap. So no need to open up the //c to use the new one if you have the old one installed. The new internal part is a bit smaller and should fit in a Laser 128 better now.

Apple II+ Displays NO graphics (Hi or Lo) ...

This Apple II+, Rev 7, tagged (19)80(week)42.  48K plus Language Card and single disk drive and Apple Controller.  Video seemed ok in all modes, until random white blocks started to appear here and there on the screen.  I had replaced the power supply (new), but hadn't really cleaned up the computer.  Pulled ALL the chips; de-ox'd the pins; and reseated them.

Computer is now functioning well .... with one exception:  NO GRAPHICS.

Seeking complete Rings of Saturn manual scan

I hope someone has, or can make, a complete Rings of Saturn [Level-10 Dakin5] manual scan. The one currently on Asimov is incomplete, missing several pages and the reference card. And maybe there's something I can scan in return.

Apple Scribe Printer

Hi,

I am restoring an Apple Scribe Printer for my //c.

I made out some parts to be replaced, but unfortunally I am missing the schematics/BOM (or Service Manual) for that printer.

Does anybody know, where to get infos on the printer?

Apple II online emulator

Just found an emulator which runs in your browser.

https://www.scullinsteel.com/apple2/

The emulator has several disk images which you can select to "load" into the drive and boot from it.

You can even load DSK files from your local pc and have the emulator run them.

And you can download the emulator's DSK files to your pc.

Pretty awesome I think.

PEEKing a negative value on the Apple IIc

I am porting a little BASIC program to the Apple IIc, using the AppleWin emulator to test it. AppleWin does not have a IIc mode so I'm using the IIe-enhanced mode (the program uses the MouseText font).

I need to generate a "clicking" sound and thus I've inserted this instruction:

S=PEEK(-16336)

This instruction is accepted and works in AppleWin.

But when I typed the program in the real IIc, I got a "syntax error" on the above instruction.

I'm assuming the IIc does not accept a negative value for PEEK, because otherwise it's plain BASIC.
