Why is Quadlink built-in DISK II drive controller so picky to PC drives?

Hi. I recently acquired from local aftermarket a Quadlink board. It uses unusual DISK II drive controller, which is very picky in relation to diferent 360K PC drives. Roughly 40% of my otherwise perfectly working PC drives are reading well diskettes writteln by  standard Apple2 computers. The rest fail when used to read Apple2 diskettes. The problem occurs with decent  error rate on external tracks usually from 0 to 9. The more the head moves to inner tracks the more the "non working with qudlink" PC drives read flawlessly inner tracks.

Apple IIc short circuit on PSU even with power off

Hello everyone,

I used to have a perfectly working appleIIc, cleaned, retrobrighted, etc.

Today I wanted to use it again and it doesn't power up, making an horrible ticking noise, leds trying to light up and then coming off, like a short circuit of some sort

Sure enough, when powered with a lab PSU on 12V it triggers the maximum current protection.

What's weird is that this happens even with the green power switch OFF.

Retronaut has been very quiet of late. But that does not mean we have gone away. Absolutely not! In fact we have been doubling down on the Channel and we hope the news we have will make you as excited about its future as we are!

SMK long or short stem ?

I need to replace a keyswitch on my //e.

It is an SMK, but I see there are two kinds (at least for a standard key, which this is).

Short stem or long stem...

How do I know which one I need to buy to replace it?

Is there something I can measure?  Do I have to take the old one out and take it apart to measure?

I see both kinds for sale on e-bay, but want to make sure I get the correct one.

Thanx

DuoDisk Light Always On - Help Needed

Hey all! I recently picked up an untested DuoDisk for use with my Apple IIe. It came damaged, which was fine, just a bit of brittle plastic that I had to repair. I'm currently at the stage where I've troubleshooted a lot, but nothing has really changed. At the beginning, the LED on the front wouldn't turn on at all, and I only heard the spin motor (not the stepper) spinning endlessly.
