ADTPro with a USB Serial port?

Hi,

I would like to run ADTPro from my laptop but it does not have a serial port. I have a USB to serial adapter and wonder if it can be used. When I start ADTPro and select the serial config option, no port numbers are shown in the drop down menu.

Can this combination work?

Thanks,

Richard.

Duo Drive Cable

Hi,

Does anyone know where in the UK I ca get hold of a 25pin to 29pin cable for the Apple Duo Drive?

Or I could make one if someone could let me know the connections.

Many Thanks,

Richard.

Power Supply Identification

Hi to All,

I am trying to identify a fried component on an Apple IIe power supply. I have a couple of schematics but they differ from the supply I have.

Mine is a 120v version, Apple part number 825-0510-A, manufactured by DynaComp Inc.

It is the first component on the neutral line after the switch!

A diagram would be great if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Richard.

Dead Apple?

Hi All,

I received an Apple IIe today which I am told has been in storage for a number of years. It looks clean enough inside but it does not power up.

It is a 120v model so I hooked it up with a suitable transformer but the supply voltage does not get past the IEC power socket. This looks to have some built in filtration but I get no voltage at the output side.

is it possible that the filter has failed?

Would it be ok to replace it with a non filtered type just to prove that the machine will power up?

Any help gratefully received!

Thanks,

Joystick for Apple IIe

Hi,

I have looked at older references to these but I was wondering what the current state of play was.

Is there a joystick I can buy easily which will work with the IIe or is it possible to modify an existing Atari type? I found a link on the forum for conversion info but the link is no longer valid.

Thanks,

Richard.

Hello! Apple kit on it's way!

Hi to All,

I have finally got round to buying some Apple IIe kit. This was the machine I could not afford in the eighties so at the time, I marched into Dixon's with 150 quid and bought an Atari 130XE with a 1050 disk drive which kept me going for a few years! Having just re invested in Atari again my thoughts turned to Apple. I was pleased to find that it was possible to create original floppies from images (just like Atari) as I do not like emulators, and even more surprised that the software was free!
