Graphics resolution issue?

Hi to all,

The game Maniac Mansion was mentioned in a retro conversation so I created the two disks for my IIe.

It boots ok (after a while?) but the opening page is not displaying correctly. The pixels seem very oversized making the screen illegible and the top line text is 'chunky' and the letters blend together.

Are there issues relating to different graphics ROMS or any other hardware in the IIe.

I remember the early PC games took a lot of running to to Graphics card problems.

Thanks Chaps,

Richard

IIe or not IIe, that is the question!

Sorry about the title chaps, couldn't resist it!

The question is valid though, I have two IIe machines but only one of them will run ProDOS. The other states it will only run on an 'enhanced IIe'. I read that the 'e' referred to the enhanced model but ProDOS is looking for an enhanced enhanced computer!

What are the essential differences between these and is it possible to upgrade one to the other (by way of ROM replacement) or am I looking at a motherboard swap?

Cheers,

Richard.

Hollister Microsystems Eprom Board

Hi to all,

I think I need some software? I have a Hollister Microsystems Eprom card model no: HMS 3264. It has three eprom slots and will burn 2716, 2732 and 2764/2712B. The card is dated 1982.

Does anyone have the necessary software to drive it?

Thanks,

Richard

Is it just me?

I have been buying Apple II systems and equipment from eBay for over 16 years. Most of the time the sellers have had reasonable prices for most everything and I have been 95% satisfied with what I have recieved. The other 5% I have used for parts, etc. and counted myself lucky that it could have been worse.

What has really been great is the fact that if you are a repeat buyer from particular sellers, they go out of thier way for you.

The last six to eight months, some of the Mid-Country sellers, and some of the West Coast sellers, seem to have lost thier minds.

Quickshot Joystick with internal connector

Hi,

I've just received a Quickshot X for my IIe which has the (very crude) 16pin DIL plug for the internal connector, and I am struggling to get it to work. I have trawled the net and every pdf I have but cannot find out which way round it should plug in. I tried the obvious(?) way with the cable out to the rear with no luck, then turned it round, still with no joy.

Am I missing somthing here?

Just for the record I tried using it with Galaxian.

Thanks in advance,

Richard.

Making Virsues

Just seen this on a forum.

"My son is at MIT and is attempting to make viruses for mac platform. He believes he found a hole in mac OS and indicated he will be using an Apple IIe and needs to use more memory for a ram drive. Whatever a ram drive is. He mentioned some place in Texas but I haven't found anything for Apple IIe."

Yes could not believe it. No has responded to it. Probably a TROLL.

Is it mice? or is there a cure for a squeeky Disk II?

Hi,

I have several Disk II drives, two of which run reasonably quietlty. The others have varying degrees of squeek.

I thought this might have been the running rails for the head unit and tried a bit of oil on one and although it made a slight difference I wouldn't say it was brilliant.
