INIT problems

Hello everyone,

My problem is very simple, but quite frustrating.

I am trying to format a new 5.25 disk in DOS 3.3. I do exactly as my DOS book says:

]NEW

]10 HOME

]20 PRINT "THIS DISK WAS CREATED BY MARK"

]30 END

]INIT HELLO, D2
(the drive whrrs for a minute)

I/O ERROR
]

And that's it! DOS just dumps me back at the prompt! Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mark Baldridge

Apple IIC

After making a multi state move I discovered my old IIc in a box while unpacking . It's working great . I bought a 3.5 unidisk off ebay before I found out that my IIC does not have the rom upgrade that will allow it to work . Anyone have any ideas on where I might be able to get a rom upgrade or a upgrade kit ?

Thanks

Unforked Unforkit on the web?

Hi,

Does anyone one know where I can find either an unforked copy of Unforkit on the internet for download, or the basic program listing for this software? I've been looking and not finding. Thanks for any help

What transformer do I need to use an original US Apple II in the UK

I realise I need a 220V (US) to 110V (UK) step down transformer. The questions I have are:

- what wattage do I need?
- does the frequency matter?
- I assume the transformer will need to be grounded - true?

If it matter the Apple in question has a silver power supply (as opposed to the later gold versions). Any other things I need to know about?

Recommended late 70s books on how to set up your Apple II

...especially for beginners.
Interested in setting up the system from scratch, where to plug in the Disk II drives, commands to boot a floppy etc
Any suggestions appreciated.
Is the "red book" oriented toward programming or general set-up

New poster: Any way to test an original Apple II without a monitor or software!

Dear friends,

I am considering buying an Apple II which has a serial number in the 5000s and was last used in the 90s.
When switched on the machine beeps but there is no monitor or software present to test further.

Is there any way of testing the basic (pun intended!) functions of the machine through some keyboard commands (for e.g. a command that produces a few beeps) without using a monitor and without attaching the disks?

Apple II plus

Hi,
I have an Apple IIplus with a problem. When I boot it there's no beep. The screen is filled with 77@@ (see pictures). Does anyone know what's wrong with it, I think a chip may have gone bad but I don't know which one. See my Flickr for the photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24500646@N02/. I really hope someone can help me!
