Apple iic, IIc+ boot from external drive; also Unidisk 5.25"?

A couple of years ago I fulfilled a bit of nostalgia & computer lust and finally got myself an Apple IIc computer! (Well, one thing lead to another and I also bought a IIc+!)

I had two questions:

1) How does one boot from an external drive?

I believe I figured this out 2 years ago, but have forgotten how! I'm wondering about it in case the internal drive fails. I tried PR#7 on the IIc and that didn't work.

2) Is there something special about the Unidisk 5.25"?

Word Juggler 2.7 anywhere?

I realized that the old thread I started (gee, it's been over 2 years!) on Word Juggler has a title that really doesn't apply any more. So, I figure I'd start a new thread.

I'm interested in tracking down a disk image of Word Juggler, but it has to be 2.7. Earlier version required a hardware modification to the Apple IIes to work.

Two years ago, none of the usual sources had it.

I'm on the verge of selling, recycling my old Apple II stuff, but I figured one last fling of playing around with it would be in order!

And WJ is the one the got away!

new uses for an apple IIe platinum?

i have an apple IIe platinum which i bought a few months ago, but have gotten bored with since. I love the Apple II line of computers, as they were the first I ever used. I was using it just to play old games that I would transfer to the Apple via serial cable from a windows PC, and then store the games on floppies for the apple. Now, I'm looking for a use for it like an IRC client or a terminal or something more interesting. Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

thanks

Apple II MP3 player

For those that were at KFest, they got to see my latest project. It is no joke, it is a MP3 player for the apple II. It plays mp3's that are stored on a flash drive (test 2gb and 8gb thus far) using a BASIC program that I wrote up to test the device. The player handles all of the mp3 decoding and storage access so there is no system overhead on the apple II.

Apple IIgs questions

Hello all,

I am a Music Informatics student and I have recently been getting much more into vintage computing. Emulators are great and all but I have a great desire to play on the real thing. I am very interested in sourcing an Apple IIGS in order to play with the Ensoniq chip inside.

The only problem is that I am in the UK and ultimately I may be forced to buy one from the US.

CFFA or SCSI card?

Hi guys. My beloved Apple IIgs is getting a much needed color monitor soon, which means it might be seeing quite heavy use. Floppys are all good fun, but tedious and slow. Plus, I want a full install of GS/OS with all my apps ready in a couple minutes when I turn on my IIgs.

Problem is, I have 2 external hard drives for my IIgs, one of them is dead, the other working. I have the cables, terminators, and even software for them, but no card.

"What Are These People Thinking?????"

Good Evening All,

I just finished checking out the Vintage Apple items up on eBay for the umpteenth time this weekend. Checking on pcbs and such for sale. I came across an Apple IIc Plus computer for sale. It's price....$500.00
as a "Buy It Now" item.

The description has it as a one owner machine in very good condition."Very Rare". It even comes with a power cord and a "Six page description copied from Wikipedia".

Configuration settings and looking for parts as well

Greetings:

I am just now dusting off my old Apple IIe and wanted to hook up a modem and my imagewriter ii printer to it. I have one super serial card and was wondering if I need to install a second SS card in slot one for the printer or even if that is possible or is there another interface I should consider.
