Re: THIS is Laughable!

i just wonder about his intended price, if he had found a bunch of 100 sleeves...

Maybe - but if so, why would he try to sell the grubbiest one first?

Re: THIS is Laughable!

Happy Friday All!!!

I see that we've finally had over 1000 Comments!

(University of California Marching Band walks through the room loudly playing their fight song!)

LOL

Yes. A $4.00 sleeve (and filthy at that) with a $24.00 shipping fee is laughable.

But that is what this thread is supposed to be about, right?
It gives everyone the opportunity to say "HEY!...What The ...?!?"

I don't see this thread dying any time soon.
There will always be something that comes along and makes folks say:

"THIS is Laughable!"

Re: THIS is Laughable!

Hello BillO,
of course - he MUST demand for that shipping fee to Canada !
Why the heck ???
Canada has very sharp laws against waste and for environmental protection !
He´s gonna pay a punishment fee and a dirt removal bill the next time he passes the border
to the neighbor country - if he is gonna ship that sleeve to that country....

Mounties will be waiting for him with his name on the bill at the border next time
he want´s to make hunting vacation up there
!!!!
And those Mounties can get VERY UGLY, if you kick dirt over the border !!!
This reminds me to a movie with John Candy and several others and with and from Michael Moore... LOL

and hello to Steven......
Ta tata ta taaaaa! Yep their gonna play "the Saints marchin in" for founding this great thread !
I have no doubt that we´ll gonna see the posting No. 2000 crackin in here in about 1 1/2 or 2 years.....
LOL

Re: THIS is Laughable!

Found this on my local craigslist:

http://toledo.craigslist.org/sys/4533079210.html

$350 for a Performa 5200CD. A PERFORMA! and a 5200 no less!! One of the worst Macs ever made!

I wouldn't even pay that much for a 128k with original box, all accessories, and bag! But this is a bare machine, keyboard, mouse, and 7.6.1 CD. I almost want to send them an email telling them how overpriced this is.

And they are open to trades for laptops and game consoles. I don't see anyone trading an Xbox One or Macbook for this. Maybe a PS1. maybe.

And now for those folks who just LOVE to gamble:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/201127285222?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

According to the seller, he has many (over 10) of these boards.
The problem I see is that when you buy one, you won't know what set of RAM Chips you're getting.
According to the pictures, he has several types (make that models) of boards.
Early RAM/Late RAM
Tabbed Slots/Untabbed Slots

That is...unless you want to spend $500.00 for all 10 boards. lol

Steven :)

DrKenb has one for auction starting at $190. After seeing a recent CFFA style card sell for over $200 I'm thinking of listing my original CFFA that I never use. Why not? Mine was purchased from someone selling it on ebay.

I thought the $19k IIci was worthy of this thread, not a CFFA going for 40-100 more than retail, especially since so many people don't know how to get them and no one can get one at the moment anyway.

Then again, we can always spend $2300.00 on a Macintosh Manual! or a standard Macintosh SE in Original Box (no, not even sealed) that for some reason is worth $1250.

Hello Zane8675,
first of all thanks for outing yourself to be infected by the "golddigger fever".....
you´ll surely feel most comfortable by siding with Mit Romney....
LOL

and Steven,

well i just hope that Rich get´s knowledge of this "offer"
and that he is able to identify that customer....

just hope that he blacklists that customer from next batch....

just remembering how many have been trying to get on the list
to puchase a CFFA3K for real own usage with the computer and did not
make it to purchase a CFFA3K
and
not for gambling as reseller for max profit
i hope at my private opinion this customer will
NOT GET ANOTHER CFFA in the next 50 years !

This just reminds me to those stupid postings here few months ago like:
" Hey guys, is here a stupid idiot willing to sell me for lowest
price a valuable mint collectable Apple II - so i can sell it for at least
10-time overpricing at ebay ???"
followed by the next mail after getting fair price offer:
"Hey man - that´s to expensive to me --- i want to make big bucks !"

no furthger comment...

just my 5 cents

You just have to love vintagecomputermuseum:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-1978-Apple-II-Computer-Motherboard-Framed-on-Glass-/151355615698?pt=US_Vintage_Computers_Mainframes&hash=item233d7f69d2

The description says its a 1978 board.
Well maybe it is, but it has a 79 Serial Number.
It is supposed to be complete, but all the RAM is missing.

For what they are asking it should be complete and made out of gold.

Re: THIS is Laughable!

Hello Steven,

it´s not made of gold - BUT IT IS FRAMED !!!
Just calculate the huge amount of money wasted for a custom-sized frame !!!
And of couse - because it´s hangin at the wall - it´ll never be used...
so why wasting precious RAM chips for a non operating board ?
The missing RAM isn´t a mistake - it´s a FEATURE !!!

I predicted several years ago when first Apple 1 boards got framed,
that next step will be the framed Apple II Board entering "Art-Market"
- not using boards for the designated pupose - but delighting guy´s that have
never used an Apple - but rather more take view to them as "investment".....
now we have reached this point....

now some sarcasm:
my guess for next step will be:
the framed early Apple Manual !!!
or the framed set of 5,25 Disks....
- how about framed interfacecards like a framed set of the PC-Transporter....

only wicked phantasy of a cocain cracked brain from
NYC Stock market or Goldman&Sachs will be able to predict next abuse...

maybe a crazy guy believes it to be the ultimate kick to preserve a turnaround viewable
sawed part of the MAC case with the engraved signatures ( including Steve Jobs signature ) to be framed....
that´s for sure a thing this world and ART galleries have been waiting for.....

Re: THIS is Laughable!

Anyone who has bought more than 1 CFFA and is not using it now IS looking
for a profit. I mean c'mon, how obvious does it have to be?

And it's usually the same sellers run after run.

I also wouldn't purchase from ebay unless the price was close to what Rich sells
them for. But hey, if they sell on ebay for $200 and $300 then I think Rich should
charge that too.

I got another cffa3k last year directly from r&d even though I had the opportunity
get one from ebay for only $50 more.

Right now I want 2 more, one for my and II+ and //e (non-platinum model).

Wow, the last CFFA 3000 is now up over $400 with shipping. If they get to parity with IIgs accelerator prices, I might have to part with one of mine.

I saw that and thought I was seeing things when I saw Hemplighter. A little more down to earth this time. Nice looking machine, started with .99 no reserve price. Seems like a new man/woman/stoner Smile

As for the IIc, at least they did not open the boxes to take pictures and then call it new in box!! Wink

Apparently it is since there are over 20 bids. Now $200 shipping within CA does seem a bit much even with insurance.

It seems to be the Real Deal.

On another topic:

Jeff,

There is an item listed on eBay right now that has a brochure in the picture that happens to mention the CDrive.
I believe the item is called an OverDrive.
Actually there are two; one 20Meg Complete in the box ($500.00, unused and one that seems to be in bad shape ($250.00).

Have you seen them?

Straight IIs are getting pretty pricey to begin with. But one with all those original accessories with the original box and being that old - it's right up there.

Seen them?... I am them!

Yes these are items I am selling from my collection. Along with some prototype hardware, etc. Maybe a CDrive will go up next? I did get an inquiry from someone regarding my //c+ prototype. Right now it has a CDrive in it and I haven't found the original 3.5" floppy drive that came with it. So I'm torn between either putting the c+ up without a drive, or putting in a new drive (which would detract from its prototype status); or dare I offer the "Tiger" (code name for the c+) with one of the very few (less than 4?) working CDrives? Did I mention it also has a "Tiger Cub" prototype memory expansion board?

I'm afraid the price I'd ask for that might truly be Laughable!

I thought this system might not be 100% original (the power supply serial number had me questioning and a serial number in sharpe on a box doesn't seem to be something that can't be "faked") , but in chatting with Mike Willegal, he pointed out that the II plus would have just been out by then so the serial number for the supply would be plausible. So I think then this is the real deal. Someone has a nice (non-rev 0) early apple II with all the original goodies. So if you are the type of collector who is into complete sets. This is a great example and worth the money.

Cheers,
Corey

Good Evening All,

I swear.
I just don't know where these folks are coming from.
There's another Used Apple IIc for auction.
Starting Price $1500.00.

I don't understand what make these folks think that (1) a used IIc even with boxes is worth that much and (2) that anyone who knows the going price for one would pay that much for it.

On the other side of the coin there are a few sellers that are auctioning a few II Plus computers for a reasonable price.

I believe it was for sale for Apple II's and early II+'s. I think they were still for sale at the launch of the Apple IIe.

It is a carrying case that you can stick the computer in for storage or mobility.

C'mon, give the guy a break. lol

It's just his second time selling on eBay.

He didn't have the sense God gave a Goldfish to compare prices for that manual.

You know as well as I do that it would have taken him all of five minutes
to see what others were going for and priced his accordingly.

A few naysayers here, shouldn't laugh so hard as the years tick by. There are discernable international buyers out there that do know what is genuinly complete, partially complete, a reconstitution, set correct. The set market is picking up & some of you could be laughing all the way to the bank.

Now as for Mr "Hemplighter". He hasn't paid his rent & has vanished again. Take it from me, this machine is nowhere to be seen. The buyer has not paid him but would like to know where he is hiding.

PM me if you have come across his breadcrumb trail.

Thanks for the heads up. Hemplighter is currently under investigation for the suspected fraud & contravening re listing of this item. This re listing is likely to be cancelled by eBay.

DO NOT BID ON ANY HEMPLIGHTER ebay listings. The seller is seeking more money as a result of this shill auction.

Hemplighter has changed his Ebay name 5 times. He has no buyer or seller feedback history in relation to vintage Apple computer goods. He has a PayPal limit block imposed on his account. Large sums of money cannot be transferred to him via Paypal.

What's the big deal? Just because after the picture they rubbed it real fast on the carpet and then tried to make it stick to their hair doesn't mean they fried every chip on the board with static.

Now as for Mr "Hemplighter". He hasn't paid his rent & has vanished again. Take it from me, this machine is nowhere to be seen. The buyer has not paid him but would like to know where he is hiding.

PM me if you have come across his breadcrumb trail.

He's Baaaaaaacccckkkk. :-)

He has re listed the Apple ][ S/n 12217 set on behalf of the owners he claims to be Charlie Clearwater & Aurthur Devine of Magnetic Arts.

report this ebay listing!!!!!. Do not buy from this seller.

"One or more of the items below cannot be purchased because the total purchase amount exceeds the limit set by the seller." If he is not happy with the auction result, you cannot pay anyway.

MyPal,

I for one hate to say it, but you are a bit late with the warnings.

Just about everyone in the community knows about HEMPLIGHTER.

He has been on the "Ten Most Wanted (or Avoided)" list for quite a while. lol

If you go to the bids page and look at the list of bidders
you will see that many of them have had more than three Bid Retractions
in the last six months.
Ebay only allows Three Per Year.

So Yes. There is something rotten in Denmark.

By the way...

Welcome to the 'Fritter!

Hi Steven,

Thanks for the welcome. Quite a knowledgeable & well informed community here.

Hemplighter needs to go down & I am doing what I can to make it happen. No patience for BS artists, zero tolerance for fraudsters & scammers. I've been tried on a few times on eBay. But in the end, they've all been caught out.

This is a great thread to megaphone the unsuspecting who only want to appreciate a very important part of history. Anyone who googles & reads here, would think twice about bidding on something flagged as too good to be true.

OH MY GOD!
It's the "Attack of The IIc's!"

http://www.ebay.com/itm/281392973398?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Are these people serious???

They better have more than one picture to prove that this unit has never been out of the box.

The last "Unopened-Never Used IIc went for $2600.00. Remember?

Wow!
