SCSI drives for Fastram IIGS

Hi all,

can any external SCSI 1 be used on the FastRam SCSI card for my Apple //GS or does it have to be a certain brand? Also what us the limit size? I want to install GSOS to boot from the hdd.

Apple //e Platinum drops to monitor when attempting to boot from CFFA3000

I'm trying to bring up a new (to me) Apple //e Platinum with a CFA3000 card that I bought from Dreher via eBay a few years ago.  This is the first time that I've tried to use the CFFA3000 in any Apple.

The only cards I have in the machine are an A2DVI v2.0 in slot 3, Smartport floppy card in Slot 6 and the CFFA3000 in slot 7.  I have the CFFA3000's virtual Disk II slot set to slot 5.  The card came with bootable DOS 3.3, ProDos & RobotWars images on the CF.  Trying to boot any of them results in dropping into the monitor (usually at address C521).

DSK file -> Real 5.25 Floppy

Hello all,

     Today I tried to copy several DSK files to real 5.25" floppy diskettes, out of 5 DSK files, only 2 worked (Copy II Plus 8.4, Pac-man), the rest, Choplifter, Karateka, Digdug did not work - 2 of the 3 just spinning the drive, without head moving, and 1 just drop me to Monitor.  

     Note these are all DSK files, not WOZ files, and they all worked in Virtual ][,  AppleWin emulator,  they also all worked with a real Apple //e with Floppy Emu.  I thought they all had copy protection removed, as DSK file doesn't contain copy protection information.

Apple II plus troubleshooting help

I have been steadily working through troublshooting my new (to me) Apple II plus, but I've hit a wall and was hoping to get some troubleshooting help.

 

Background:

Bought an Apple II plus off a local seller on Offer Up. He last used it ~20 years ago and it had been sitting in his garage for the bulk of that time. There was a lot of surface corrrosion on the chip pins. I chased power, clock and reset . Replaced the 6502 and a handful of 7400 chips.  Deoxited everything. I also found I had a bad ROM so built the "ROM Replacement board"  and it now boots reliably.

Trying to get Apple Game Server 3.1 to run

I recently saw this app that allows you too not games from a serial connection, which in my situation would be great. However, when I run the application, I get an rxtxserial error. I've added the proper files in the right places and yet I still get this error

Super 5 (Teac) analog board (clonelike disk II)

Hi there,

I am seeking to repair an old 'Super 5' (Ei En Enterprises) floppy drive. This is a clone drive made in Japan and based on a Teca FD54a drive.  

This one may have been plugged in incorrectly a long time ago and has damage to chips on the analog board (one chip actually split open IC7).  

Issue with repairing is that the original manufacturer has removed the tops and labelling of almost every (except one) IC.

Replacement ports for the Apple IIe?

I've got an Apple IIe that I recently acquired and I've been working on getting it cleaned up and working and I noticed that all the ports on the back (specifically the composite video, cassette in and out and the joystick port) have some corrosion on them and I was wondering if anyone knows what the proper parts to order to replace these is?

Disk II drive issues

Has anyone actually seen the stepper motors fail on these things? I've got one that I've cleaned up rail-wise, and the head-bang is very soft, and the thing doesn't step properly. I've checked it out with another analog board and it does the same thing.

 

With regard to the stepper motor, I know I can find them online (I looked), but what sort of realignment is required if its replaced?

 

Apprecaite any guidance. Essentially the drive does not seek. I confirmed motor speed is within tolerance.

Apple IIc first release, Mockingboard 4c and zipchip 8000

Apple IIc first version: has anyone ever tried, or knows if it's possible, to install the Mockingboard 4C and the ZipChip 8000 on it? If you remove the reinforcement under the keyboard, can you close the case?
