Cleaning old yellowed Apple components

I just got my in-laws old Apple IIc, they used it lightly for only a year or two before switching over to a Mac and storing the IIc. I did not realized just how yellowed my own computers had become over time until I had the new IIc set up next to them.

I am looking for cleaning product suggestions to reduce the yellowed appearance on my systems.
I am hesitant to use a bleach product since it can "melt" plastic. Anyone find an effective way to reduce the yellowing on their systems?

Thanks
jim

IIgs System saver...replacement fan

Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a good replacement fan for the IIgs system saver? Mine sounds like a sherman tank and getting worse! Link to an online source would be appreciated. I just finished removing the fan...looks pretty cheaply made.

Thanks
Jim

Apple II GS problems

Hey guys, NOOB here so watch out. My niece has my old IIGS and it won't boot anymore. It will give an error 0063 while trying to load a file. Sorry cant remember what file.
I have no idea how to work this beast but I tried putting in some OS disks and it says I need AppleDisk3.5 driver on a boot disk. Anyone have this?

Roving Nostalga for an Unique AppleII Game

Well, I was fooling about with an Apple //e emulator and suddenly I was struck by a sense of nostalgia; I had /never/ finished an old Apple // game that I had checked out from the Hennepin County Library (in Minnesota.) The interesting thing about this game was that most of the flavortext was in the 26-ish booklets (they were labeled by letter) that came with it.

What I can remember about the content of the game is pretty shoddy; it was a space exploration game which had a labyrinthine map of Scienterrific[tm] spacewarpthingies to varieties of different planets.

More troubles with ADTPro

Hi! It's me (again),
Now that I finally got ADTPro to transfer ProDOS, I'm running in to
another roadblock. When Part 1 finishes transferring, it loads ProDOS
halfway, but stays in the monitor (*). What do I do? When I type IN#2
a bunch of random characters crawls across the screen. (Memory
addresses or values or something like that. Am I doing something
wrong?

bootstrapping ProDOS using ADTPro. I do everything according to the
directions on the website. When I click "OK" and the program starts
sending ProDOS part 1, all that is shown are blackslashes - such as this:

ect.

Music Studio by Activision

Hi,

I'm the maintainer of the largest archive of Atari ST chip music on the net (sndh.atari.org).

Currently I'm adding music which was composed with Activision's Music Studio.

Basically I'd like to know if songs written with the Apple version are compatible with the ST version of MS.

I've found some Apple MS tunes at

http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/the_ring/application_pages/music_studio.html

in SHK and 2mg formats.

But before I attempt to extract and convert the files could somebody please tell me if they are compatible.

5.25 (3.5) disk life span?

As I understand it, the 5.25 disk, over time, will corrupt due to the weakening of its magnetic field? If this is true does anyone have an idea of the life span? I have had a few of my older original Apple IIe programs on 5.25 disk failed when I took them out of storage (I really hated the lost of copy II plus 7.1!), usually with bad sectors. Lucky most of the backup copies I made are still good, but I feel like I am living on borrowed time with these.

Apple IIe Platinum Laptop

I have an Apple IIe Platinum without a case and I have an idea for a new one that I need to check if its possible to make one according to my idea. The case would be like that of a Power book 100, and would be operated off batteries. Not only that, but it would have an LCD screen. Any ideas?

IIGS and Mac HFS disk

I ran a cross a snippet on the internet that basicly said I could retrieve text files I had saved from my Apple IIc to 5.25 disk, write them to a 3.5 disk on my GS and finally transfer them to my Mac. As I understand it the IIgs will write a HFS disk (3.5) which the Mac can read. Now I tried this but my Color Classic just comes up with the disk intialization pop up...it obviously is not reading the disk as I thought it would based on what I read.
