Uising Your Voice in Scholastic and Super Story Tree

I wanted to add my voice to the text parts of the story, so I used Double Talk to record my voice
is there anyway I can use Double Talk files in Super Story Tree?

Apple IIe questions

Hi, Everyone--

I have some questions about the Apple IIe that I can't seem to find the answers. I have tried Google, and still haven't found what I was looking for:

1. Can all versions of the IIe (regular, Enhanced, Platinum) do the same things, or do each of the revisions allow the use to do more?

2. Can all versions run AppleWorks 3 (3 1/2" and 5 1/4" versions?)

3. Are all three capable of using the Uther card?

4. Do all versions come with 80-column cards?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Mike

CF Hard Drive Opinions Wanted

Hi all,

I want to get a Compact Flash card for my IIGS (ROM 01) and I was wondering if those of you who have one or more of them would chime in on what you have, as well as likes / dislikes (if any) and any gotchas that I should be aware of. I'm just getting back into the Apple II platform and I'm pretty fuzzy on details after all this time (read: I've completely forgotten everything), so any help would be appreciated.

Here's what I'm considering:

Magic Blue Smoke

Fedex delivered the Apple IIe yesterday. Hooked it up and all was working. Running some diagnostics and I saw (and heard) the puff of smoke coming from the power supply.

Turns out is was a capacitor. Looks like a bypass cap, .1 microfarad. There are two right up where the ac line enters the power supply chassis. Anyone know where to get a schematic of the IIe power supply ? Got a couple of replacement caps at Radio Shack, installed one and all seems to work, but would like to verify the caps function.

Looking for George R. Wilde

George,

You wrote a program called "UtilityWorks" back in 1988. I use the program and would like to send you the shareware fee requested.

And, have you written any updates in the last 20 years ???? Smile

Update: Wasteland will run on the Apple IIGS!

Greetings,

Last Friday I was messing with KEGS on a PC and decided to see if I could get Wasteland to work. I switched the ROM image it was using from the ROM 1 to ROM 3 and then started it up with the Wasteland boot disk. To my surprise, considering that it wouldn't work on the GS emulators I have on my Mac, it booted up.

Apple IIGS Monitor / Keyboard Issue

Hey all,

Just got a IIGS system (woot!) and there are a couple of funky things, namely that the monitor and keyboard don't seem to initialize properly when the system is powered on.

With the monitor, the system must be powered on first, or the monitor is "all squiggly". I seem to remember this from back when these were new, that the computer had to be turned on first, although I'm willing to concede that my memory might not be perfect Sad

Apple II+ Double Beep

I'm in the middle of fixing my Apple II+ and after removing and putting the CPU back into the machine it now double beeps on start and on reset (yay rest works again). I'm just wondering what this means. I know my ROM is screwed but I'm not sure if the double beep indicated no rom or what.

Apple II Plus Diagnostic Confidence Disk

When I was browsing eBay I found a 5.25" floppy for the Apple II Plus labeled as a 'Diagnostic' 'Disk'. I was just wondering if the disk image exists for it on one the the Apple II software sites since it would be really useful in fixing my Apple II+. (It would be good to figure out if my Apple II is completely fix or if there is still a bit of problems to fix).
