Apple 2 GS

I just decided to dig out a apple2 GS that a got a while back. I'm having some problems getting a OS, or even anything to boot. I have a feeling either the programs i'm writeing to 3.5'' floppies useing rarwrite(for windows), are suppost to run on the 5.2'' drives. I own the GS box, a 3.5'' drive, and a 5.25'' drive, and the GS monitor (though I have it pluged into my TV) So i'm unsure if maybe I need a harddrive or something? I really just want to get a few clasics running, and maybe some way of writeing some programs.

Help with Hi-Res Soccer and Hi-Res Cribbage (On-Line Systems)

The shells of both of these games have become warped enough so that the storage medium can no longer rotate. I have removed the disc from the shell of the Soccer game and placed it in a temporary shell, and my Apple II will read it, but obviously this is not a permanent solution. I am therefore looking for either an image of these games that I can use to create new disks, or some help on how to make copies of these write-protected disks. I have tried Locksmith, CopyII+, etc.

Thanks!

What;s wrong with my //c?

When I turn it on, all it does is make a ticking sound and move around messed up sprites on the screen.

Apple IIe does not work(?) if floppy controller card fitted...

Hi all,

I have recently got an Apple IIe and it certainly has not been without problems!
Anyway, it seems to work now.

But when I try to use it with the floppy controller card inside, it does not allow me to type commands. I just get the "Apple //e" title atop my screen with no prompt...

Am I doing something wrong or could there be a problem?
If so, what can I do?

Unidentified Apple II card! "GVG APIPL I/F"

Hi all,

I have come accross a very odd Apple II expansion card, I cannot identify it using websites etc, so I am wondering if any of you guys out there can work out what it is.

Various parts of the board have printed "(C)GVG", "GVG" could be the card's manufacturer??

It connect via ribbon to a port on the back of the IIE which has a large port with very thick pins, and another port which looks like a TV arial plug.

The pins for the plug on the back of the computer are rather oldly not numbered, they are lettered (A-Z)!

Apple IIe sooms to work but gives no picture on TV

Hi all,

Yesterday I received an Apple IIe that I have bought on ebay for a bargain of £20 (it was being sold off on behalf of a large company that was getting rid of all of its Apple II computers).

I switched it on and it seemed fine (made beeb noise), can respond to keyboard commands (it beeps when you press return).

But I cannot get a picture on my TV. I have connected the TV to the plug that has a picture of a monitor/TV set).
I have gone up and down on the tuning manually (as autotune usually whizzes straight past computers) but still no picture!

All I remember were green monochrome graphics and....

No idea what this was called.

A friend and I had ridden our bikes to this new computer store that sold these new things called apple computers for thousands of dollars.

The owner said that he would let us play games if we took out the trash and swept. We did.

From what I remember (early 80s) it was a green monochrom text/graphics game. You know: Go north. Go south. etc.

I think I hit paydirt with a loaded thrift apple 2 GS

Wow. Today was an interesting day for thrifting. I used to be a big time thrifter,I would hit all the shops at least once every 2 weeks. Well in the last year, I bascially quit thirfting. Well today I was driving home and decided to pop in at my local Salvation Army (usually the worst of all the thrifts).

I was browsing in there and getting ready to leave when I saw a 2 gs sitting in a corner. The price tag on it was 1.99 and I was like "oh hmm, thats a decent deal" so I grabbed it. I discovered on the way out that it was 1/2 price day so it was 99 cents.

Disk drive problem

I am having problems with my Apple IIe disk drive not reading properly and diagnosed it as a speed/synchronization problem.
I am told that you can adjust the disk drive speed to compensate for this. How is this done? Can I do this myself or do I
need a tech? Everything else is OK and I don't want to damage any data on my disks.
