Speeding Drive a funny one....

Hi Folks,

Forums:

What the heck is up with this weird IIGS?

Just saw this on eBay and.. it makes no sense. https://www.ebay.com/itm/125774565342?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=qXhsAtPpQCW&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=YQKtlshQRbK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

The guy has a W65C02S8P-10 installed in the CPU socket.. and claims it runs GS/OS..

Floppy disk : write problems on Apple IIc

Hello !

On my IIc :

- No problem reading floppy disks

- When I try to format (from Copy II+ by example) : heavy noise from the drive then message indicating that my floppy disk is certainly write-protected...

- And if I delete a file on the diskette, it is rendered unreadable...

And same problem with my external drive that I cleaned.

To sum up, no reading problem but impossible to write on the floppy disks...

If anyone has an idea...

Thanks in advance !

Disk II rainbow ribbon cable color pinout

Hi everyone,

I'm just doing a simple 20-pin IDC cable replacement for an old Disk II drive clone (technically a "Fourth Dimension Super Drive") and for fun wanted to use a pretty rainbow colored ribbon cable, like what the older Disk IIs used. But, Wikipedia's entry for the Disk II pinout colors seems to only cover the 19-pin Unidisk-style connector, so the colors for pins 17, 19, and 20 are likely incorrect. I'm guessing they should be violet, white, and black, respectively. Can anybody confirm that?

Jailbars/vertical white lines on Apple II plus

Hi, I have an Apple II plus that only displays vertical white lines. Ive tested almost all the chips with my TL866 II plus programmer besides the 9334 chip. Ive tested with only the Autostart rom, nothing. Ive replaced sockets, replaced the CPU, and still nothing. CPU is attempting to do something, and has the right clock speed.

I have no clue what to do next. Im new to Apple Computers, but familiar with retro computers and their operations. No beeps, no clicks, nothing.

Im unable to test with my logic analyzer due to it being broken.

AdvSkel65 bug in score board: room in wrong place?

Hi!  I am pretty close to getting my AdvSkel65 program ready for the next release.  I cleaned up the source code, removed a lot of unnecessary or redundant code and performed other optimizations,  Right now, I am in the middle of debugging it.  The current bug is that, while printing the score board, the room is displayed in the wrong place: it starts st the right-most character of the screen instead of the far left.  In my A2SimpleIO library, the tabx variable points to the current X cursor pos.

Replacement keyboard for Franklin ACE 1000

The keyboard on my Franklin ACE 1000 suddenly started having dead keys.  Working through the troubleshooting checklist in the SAMS guide, it became clear that the special capacitative-keyswitch IC had fried.

As a replacement IC doesn't appear to be available, I designed a replacement in KiCAD that uses CherryMX keyswitches and osiweb's Unified Retro Keyboard ASCII interface.  I've yet to source proper replacement keycaps, so I'm using a random set I found on Taobao, but it is otherwise working well.

cc65 text adventure code updated!

Hi!  Earlier today, I published a new release of my AdvSkel65 program for cc65.  It is a text adventure skeleton code around which one can build a text adventure.  Two of its targets are for a 64k or 128k Apple2enh using ProDOS, but it also supports CBM and Atari XL computers.  It is at c65 additions - Manage /game at SourceForge.net.  Also there is a low-end version, AdvSkelVic65, but it doesn't support the Apple2.  Try it out!
